Tannatt Chambers

A three storey building with highly decorative façade and half basement (ground floor) below the street level. The façade has tuck pointed face brick with smooth render and a stucco banded parapet. The name 'Tannatt Chambers' is raised on a decorative stucco cornice above the portico facade over the ground and first floors. The east side front entrance and the pointed arched windows of the first floor have stained glass transoms; the arched windows on the upper level have multi paned timber windows.

Tannatt Chambers was designed in 1898 by E.H. Dean Smith as was No. 10 adjacent. The building has a basement and two upper floors.

1901 Tenders are invited by Mr. E. Bayly Trigg, architect, of Tannatt Chambers, High-street, for erection of two cottages in Fremantle… (reference)

1904 Notice is hereby given that the Registered Office of 'The International Music Perforating Company, Limited' is situated at Tannatt Chambers, High-street, Fremantle, and that such office is accessible to the Public every day… (reference) They manufactured piano rolls.

1909 Auction: Lot 10 of Fremantle Town Lots 17 and 18, deposited plan 1660, having a frontage to High-street of 30.1 links by a depth of 102.5 links. The improvements consist of a modern two-storey Brick and Stone Building with basement, known as "Tannatt Chambers.'' The situation is one of the best in Fremantle, being next the Hotel Fremantle, and only a few yards from Ciiff sttreet. The buildings are well designed for office purposes, and in splendid order.
